There is definitely no doubt that one of the compulsory requirements you must meet as a Nigerian before leaving the shores of the country is the acquisition of the Nigerian International passport.

As a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, you are entitled to a passport but it doesn’t come free of charge.

So in this article, I am going to be revealing to you, the different categories of Nigerian Passport, their prices as well as the requirements to attain any of them.

The major difference between the Nigeria passport and that of ECOWAS is the fact that the ECOWAS passport can only be used when traveling to any of the 15 countries in West Africa, while the Nigeria passport can be used to travel to any country in the World.

THE TWO TYPES OF NIGERIA PASSPORT

The Nigeria passport is grouped into two types based on the number of pages they have. And they are:

The 32 page passport: this is meant for people travelling for leisure or visits. People who do not travel frequently (less than 3 times a year) are advised to go for this type of passport.

On the other hand, people who travel internationally very often, mostly for business trips would be required to go for the 64 pages Nigerian passport as it would save you the stress of constantly needing to apply for a new one.

FINANCIAL COST OF THE NIGERIAN INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT.

The price of the 32 page Nigerian passport varies with age. For children under the age of 18, the passport cost #10,750. If you are from the age of 18 to 59, you will have to pay #17,000 and finally, if you are above 60 years of age, you will have to pay #10,750.

However, the 64 pages Nigerian passport has a fixed price for all ages which is #22,000 only.

Requirements To Acquire the Nigerian passport for people from 18 years and above.

  • Two recent passport size photograph
  • Proof of payment
  • Birth Certificate
  • A well filled guarantor form
  • Marriage certificate (if married)
  • Affidavit of change of Name (if applicable)
  • A valid State / local government of Origin document (you can get this at your local government secretariat)

Requirements To Acquire the Nigerian passport for people from 17 years and below

  • Evidence of Nigerian Citizenship
  • Birth certificate
  • Letter of consent from both parents
  • Proof of payment
  • One passport sized photograph
